The process

How an appraisal works

Autoloss appraisals are prepared from your repair order, photos and records. You start with a free claim review, send us those documents, and we build the valuation from current market data and comparable vehicles. Monica Fisher reviews every report, and you typically receive it within 24–48 hours of our having everything we need. No office visit is needed, though you are welcome to come in if need be.

Six steps

From first call to finished report

  1. 1

    Free claim review

Tell us about the vehicle and the claim online or by phone at (877) 655-1661. We check eligibility and whether an appraisal is likely to help, and quote the fee. The review is free; it is not an appraisal.
  2. 2

    Order and send documents

If you go ahead, you pay for the appraisal and upload photos and records (the checklist is below).
  3. 3

    Research

We identify comparable vehicles, review the damage and repairs, and account for mileage, equipment, condition and your local market.
  4. 4

    Review by Monica Fisher

Every report is reviewed before release.
  5. 5

    Delivery

You receive the report typically 24–48 hours after all required information is received.
  6. 6

    Presenting your claim

You send the report and your custom demand letter to the insurer. If they question it, we explain how it was prepared. What happens next.

Common questions

Do I need to bring my vehicle in?

No. Physical inspections are no longer normally required. Our appraisers prepare the report from your repair order, photographs, documents and market data, for clients in every state. You are welcome to come to our office if need be.

What if I don’t have every document?

Send what you have. We will tell you what is missing and whether the report can proceed without it. The 24–48-hour turnaround starts once we have what we need.

Who reviews my report?

Monica Fisher, the owner of Autoloss, reviews every appraisal before it is delivered.

Do you contact the insurer for me?

You send the report to the insurer. If the insurer asks how the report was prepared, we answer those questions. Autoloss is an independent vehicle-appraisal company, not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice or legal representation.

Not sure whether an appraisal will help?

The claim review is free: we look at your situation and tell you whether an appraisal is likely to help. The appraisal itself is a paid report. We help from start to finish, including a custom demand letter, and our support staff is a phone call away throughout the process.
